seppuku  hara-kiri       ( suicide by disembowelment )having long sword (katana)  standingback samuraiassistthesittingfront samurai (Load Asano)who has rituallydisemboweled himself, the samurai cut down the neck(head)afterthesamurai's disembowel  did ,before the pain.    It' calledKaishaku.

There was a revenge drama in 1702 in Edo(Tokyo), 47 faithful retainers@of Lord Asano carried outtherevengeagainst the man theyheldresponsible forthe down falland death of their load.
There happened an affair involving bloodshed when the big entertainmentceremony for the emperor was beingheldinthe April of 1701..
The young Lord Asano from Ako attempted to kill another Lord Kira who was incharge of teaching the manneroftheentertainment to Asano, buthumiliatedAsano againand again during the preparation for the ceremony..
Kira could escap from the attack without fatal injury, but the Load Asano was ordered to commit hara-kiri(suicidebykilling oneself in theabdomen )instantly and hisland was confiscated by the Shogun. That was the beginningofthedrama about 47 samurai's(retainer) revenge whichtook 1 yearand 9 months to accomplish.
Akoh (the land of the lord Asano ) has been producing good quality salt while Kiras land has been also producing salt.Kira was thought tobeenvious of Asano because ofhis wealth brought from quality salt. This is oneexplanationaboutwhy Kira humiliated young Lord Asano in theEdocastle.
Oishi (the NO2 of Akoh castle) was the leader of 47 samurais. The plan and preparation of the revenge mustbedonein secret.
Most 47 samurais were in Edo disguised them as various citizens like noodleshop owner or carpenter.Manydramaswere made among thembeforethe revenge wasaccomplished.
It was mid night of 14th December in 1702, Oishi and his 46 samurais headed tothe Kira;s residence in Edoinheavysnow fall.
After successful fight, at long last, they could find their bitter enemy Kira hiding in small warehouse andtheyachievedtheir wish. It was 4 am.
Though this revenge made most citizens pleased and cheerful, Shogun ordered 47samurais to commit hara-kiri(suiside ) for to keep the orderofhis world.
Of course 47 samurais had been determined for the suicide even before the@revenge.
